Haiti’s Unité de Lutte Contre la Corruption (ULCC) has initiated formal exchanges with the French Anti-Corruption Agency (AFA) aimed at exploring future cooperation in the prevention and fight against corruption, according to official communications referenced by Ground News.

The discussions focused on potential frameworks for technical cooperation, institutional strengthening, and the sharing of best practices in corruption prevention. Representatives from both agencies emphasized the importance of prevention-based mechanisms, internal controls, and compliance systems as foundational tools for reinforcing public integrity.

French officials highlighted AFA’s experience in developing risk-mapping tools, compliance programs, and preventive oversight models applicable to both public institutions and private entities. ULCC leadership, in turn, underscored Haiti’s need to enhance institutional capacity, improve investigative methodologies, and align national anti-corruption efforts with international standards.

While no formal agreement has yet been announced, both sides described the exchange as a preparatory step toward structured collaboration. Such cooperation could include training programs, technical assistance, and knowledge transfer designed to strengthen Haiti’s anti-corruption architecture amid ongoing governance challenges.

The engagement forms part of ULCC’s broader strategy to deepen international partnerships and improve operational effectiveness in addressing systemic corruption, particularly in a context marked by political instability and weakened public trust.
