U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham issued a sharp warning to Iran’s leadership on Tuesday, stating that President Donald J. Trump could authorize lethal action against the country’s supreme leader if Iran’s crackdown on protesters continues.

Speaking during an interview on Fox News with host Sean Hannity, Graham asserted that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei should take the Trump administration’s posture seriously. His comments came amid reports that at least 36 people have died in Iran over the past ten days as security forces confront widespread demonstrations.

Graham linked his remarks to recent U.S. actions abroad, pointing to the removal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro as evidence of Washington’s willingness to pursue regime change when it views conditions as intolerable. He suggested that Iran’s ruling establishment should see those developments as a clear signal rather than political rhetoric.

Addressing the Iranian public directly, Graham described the country as being “on the verge of falling” and urged citizens to reclaim control of their nation from the ayatollah-led system. He argued that continued repression could trigger decisive consequences for those in power.

Looking beyond the immediate crisis, Graham suggested that a post–regime change Iran could enter a new phase of engagement with the United States, including potential involvement of U.S. oil companies in rebuilding Iran’s energy sector. He also warned that Cuba, which remains economically dependent on Russia and Venezuela, could face increased pressure from Washington.

The remarks underscore a significant escalation in U.S. political rhetoric toward Iran at a time of heightened internal instability, reflecting the Trump administration’s continued emphasis on deterrence and forceful foreign policy signaling.
