The Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) on Thursday took part in the official inauguration of the new headquarters of Haiti’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cults (MAEC), marking a significant institutional milestone for the country’s diplomatic apparatus.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, members of the government, former ministers, senior officials of the Chancellery, representatives of the Grand Corps of the State, and members of the diplomatic and consular corps.

In his address, the President of the Presidential Transitional Council, H.E.M. Laurent Saint-Cyr, underscored the institutional and symbolic importance of the new facility. He stated that the inauguration goes beyond the commissioning of an administrative structure, describing it as an expression of the continuity of the Haitian state and its resilience following the 2010 earthquake.

Saint-Cyr noted that the new MAEC headquarters reflects Haiti’s determination to project itself into the future with responsibility and dignity. He also used the occasion to pay tribute to ministry officials who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The CPT President further emphasized that the new premises must function as a true strategic decision-making center for Haitian diplomacy. He called for a diplomatic approach rooted in ethics, performance, and national interest, while advocating for a renewed and more proactive Haitian diplomacy.

According to Saint-Cyr, national priorities for diplomatic action should include security, the organization of elections, and economic recovery. He also stressed the importance of strengthening international partnerships and increasing the participation of women and young professionals in leadership roles within the country’s diplomatic services.

The inauguration of the new Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters comes as transitional authorities continue efforts to reinforce state institutions and reassert Haiti’s presence on the international stage.
