French President Emmanuel Macron hosted Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix Tshisekedi in Paris on Thursday, reaffirming France’s support for Congo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity amid ongoing instability in the country’s eastern regions.

In a public statement following the meeting, President Macron reiterated France’s backing for efforts aimed at achieving an effective and verifiable ceasefire in eastern Congo, where armed violence has continued to affect civilian populations and regional security.

Macron also emphasized humanitarian concerns, stating that France remains determined to help meet the needs of the Congolese population as diplomatic and security initiatives continue. The discussions highlighted France’s support for Congo’s national unity while underscoring the urgency of stabilizing conflict-affected areas.

The meeting comes at a time of renewed international focus on the situation in eastern Congo, where armed groups and cross-border tensions have fueled prolonged insecurity. France has consistently positioned itself as a supporter of diplomatic engagement and coordinated international efforts to reduce violence and support humanitarian relief.

No new agreements or timelines were announced following the talks, but both leaders signaled continued cooperation on political, security, and humanitarian priorities.
