The United Arab Emirates and the Dominican Republic have reached an agreement to hold a regional dialogue under the World Governments Summit framework by the end of 2026, marking a significant step in expanding global governance discussions into the Caribbean region.
The agreement was announced during high-level meetings connected to the World Governments Summit, an annual international forum hosted in Dubai that brings together heads of state, ministers, policymakers, and global experts to discuss future-focused governance solutions. The planned regional dialogue will adapt the Summit’s model to regional needs, focusing on public-sector innovation, digital government, economic development, and sustainable policy frameworks.
Officials from the Dominican Republic said the initiative will position the country as a regional hub for international policy dialogue while offering Caribbean and Latin American governments greater access to global governance expertise. Emirati representatives highlighted that the collaboration aligns with the UAE’s strategy of building cross-regional partnerships and promoting knowledge exchange with emerging and developing economies.
The regional dialogue is expected to convene government leaders, private-sector representatives, international organizations, and policy specialists. While exact dates and the host city have not yet been confirmed, organizers indicated preparations are underway and that the agenda will reflect shared priorities such as digital transformation of public services, public–private cooperation, climate resilience, and inclusive economic growth.
The World Governments Summit has grown into a major platform for shaping global governance conversations. Establishing a regional dialogue in the Caribbean represents a strategic expansion of its influence, bringing global policy discussions closer to regional challenges while maintaining international collaboration.
