The Ministry of Defense has formally stated that there is no union or syndicate operating within the Ministry or the Armed Forces of Haiti, affirming that such a structure has never existed and will never be allowed.
In an official press release issued on Tuesday, the Ministry emphasized that defense and national security institutions are governed by strict principles of discipline, hierarchy, obedience, and absolute neutrality. According to the statement, these principles are fundamentally incompatible with any form of union organization or pressure.
The Ministry further asserted that, internationally, armed forces and defense ministries do not permit union activity due to the sensitive nature of their responsibilities, which include national security, territorial defense, and the protection of state sovereignty.
Authorities warned that any individual or collective attempt to falsely claim the existence of a union, mislead public opinion, disrupt the functioning of defense institutions, or interfere with the execution of sovereign defense missions will be considered a criminal act.
The statement added that perpetrators of such actions will face severe disciplinary measures and legal proceedings without prior warning, in accordance with the laws and regulations currently in force.
The Ministry of Defense concluded by reaffirming its commitment to preserving order, discipline, and national security, stating that it reserves the right to take all necessary measures to uphold these principles.
