A Canadian couple was found dead while vacationing in the Dominican Republic, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities as officials work to determine the cause of death.
The victims have been identified as Christine Sauvé and Alain Noël, both Canadian nationals. According to information shared by the family, the couple died in their sleep on the night of December 25. The couple’s son, who was traveling with them at the time, reportedly discovered their bodies.
The news was confirmed publicly by Sauvé’s brother, Gilles Sauvé Jr., who spoke with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He stated that, as of now, the cause of death remains unknown.
Local authorities in the Dominican Republic have opened an investigation. No official findings, medical explanations, or determinations of foul play have been released. Toxicology and autopsy results, if conducted, have not yet been made public.
The case has drawn attention due to the Dominican Republic’s status as a major tourist destination for North American travelers, particularly during the winter holiday season. Officials have not indicated whether the deaths are linked to environmental, medical, or other factors.
At this time, there has been no formal statement from Dominican health or judicial authorities detailing preliminary conclusions.
This is a developing story. We are awaiting official updates from authorities and will provide confirmed information as it becomes available.
