Cuba said it is investigating the deaths of 32 Cuban officers whom it claims were killed during a United States operation in Venezuela, according to state officials cited by international media reports.
Havana did not provide evidence to support the allegation but said the officers were operating under bilateral cooperation agreements with Venezuela at the time of the incident. Cuban authorities described the alleged operation as a violation of Venezuelan sovereignty and said the matter has been raised through diplomatic channels.
There was no immediate response from the United States government. Venezuelan authorities had also not confirmed the incident or released independent information regarding the reported deaths.
The situation remains unverified, and international observers say further confirmation will be required before conclusions can be drawn. Regional analysts note that the claim, if substantiated, could heighten diplomatic tensions in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Further updates are expected as additional information becomes available.
