Location: Broward County, Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Pascale Achille to serve as a judge on the Circuit Court of the 17th Judicial Circuit, filling a vacancy in Broward County’s judiciary created by a recent resignation.

The appointment, announced December 8, places Achille on the 17th Judicial Circuit bench, which serves Broward County. She fills the seat vacated by Judge Gary M. Farmer Jr., who resigned effective August 15.

Achille brings more than 20 years of legal experience to the role. She spent the past 12 years as an Assistant State Attorney in the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, including service in the Homicide Trial Unit since 2018. Earlier prosecutorial assignments included sexual battery and career criminal units. Before joining the State Attorney’s Office, she practiced civil law for eight years.

The appointment restores a full judicial complement to the 17th Judicial Circuit following Farmer’s departure. As a circuit judge, Achille will preside over felony criminal cases, major civil disputes, family law matters, and other proceedings within the court’s jurisdiction.

The Governor’s appointment authority directly shapes the composition of Florida’s trial courts. Achille’s background as both a prosecutor and civil litigator positions her with experience across criminal, civil, and appellate practice, affecting how cases are managed and adjudicated at the circuit level.

Achille argued cases before Florida’s Second and Fifth District Courts of Appeal during her civil practice. She is a graduate of Florida State University and Nova Southeastern University College of Law. She has lived in Broward County for many years and served the county throughout her prosecutorial career.

In a statement following the appointment, Achille said she was grateful to the Governor’s Office and the Judicial Nominating Commission for the opportunity to serve, calling it an honor to have represented Broward County as an Assistant State Attorney in the Homicide Trial Unit.

Achille will be sworn in and begin serving immediately on the Circuit Court of the 17th Judicial Circuit, assuming full judicial duties according to court administrative procedures.
