The Direction de l’Immigration et de l’Émigration (DIE) has announced the implementation of a digital passport application system at the Consulate of Haiti in Miami, marking a major step toward modernizing consular services for Haitians living abroad.
Under the new system, applicants are no longer required to complete paper forms when requesting a Haitian passport. The process is now handled through a digital application form, streamlining data submission and reducing administrative handling. In addition, applicants no longer need to bring printed passport photographs, as photos will be taken directly during the biometric data collection appointment.
According to the DIE, the digitization of the passport request process is expected to significantly shorten processing and delivery times. Officials say the new system improves efficiency by minimizing manual procedures and reducing errors associated with paper-based applications.
The Miami consulate is the first location to implement the digital passport application, but the DIE confirmed that the initiative is part of a broader plan. The agency intends to extend the digital system to all Haitian consulates abroad in order to provide faster, more reliable, and standardized services to the Haitian diaspora.
The Direction de l’Immigration et de l’Émigration emphasized that this initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to modernization and improved public service delivery through digital transformation.
