The Haitian government has reiterated its commitment to restoring order and reinforcing state authority throughout the national territory, positioning public safety as a central pillar of political stability and national recovery.
Speaking during a recent address to the nation, the Secretary of State for Public Security, Mario Andrésol, reaffirmed the government’s determination to confront insecurity and reassert the authority of the state across all regions. He described public safety as an absolute strategic priority, directly linked to economic recovery, social stability, and the eventual return to democratic governance.
According to the Secretary, the government’s security strategy is grounded in a framework of strategic cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as collaboration with national and international experts. This approach, authorities say, aims to combine operational security measures with institutional strengthening.
Targeted actions are currently being implemented in several regions, including the West, Artibonite, and Central departments. These initiatives focus on combating organized crime, reinforcing governance structures, and improving the protection of communities affected by violence and instability.
Officials emphasized that public safety is not negotiable, underscoring that security is both a fundamental right of citizens and a core duty of the state. The government maintains that restoring security remains essential to rebuilding public trust, stabilizing the country, and creating conditions for sustainable development.
