Haitian National Police (PNH) officials announced the arrest of Simon Pele Jean, identified by authorities as the alleged second-in-command of the armed group known as “Bandi,” during a security operation in Jérémie, in Haiti’s Grand’Anse department.

According to preliminary information provided by police sources, the arrest occurred after officers intervened as the suspect attempted to flee. An exchange of gunfire reportedly took place during the operation. Authorities have not reported any civilian casualties at this time.

The arrest forms part of ongoing law enforcement efforts aimed at dismantling armed groups and restoring public order in the region. Police officials stated that investigations are continuing to identify potential accomplices and to determine the full scope of the suspect’s alleged activities.
