Haiti’s Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) announced on Sunday the official launch of a national political dialogue intended to establish a broad Haitian consensus on a governance mechanism for the period following February 7, 2026, the date marking the end of the council’s current mandate.

According to a statement released by the Presidency, the dialogue seeks to identify a political framework capable of ensuring national stability while maintaining continuity in the electoral process and supporting efforts to restore public security amid Haiti’s ongoing crisis.

As part of the initial phase of consultations, the CPT received several political groups and consensus platforms at the Villa d’Accueil. Participating organizations included the MORN groups and the Political Consensus grouping, as well as representatives from EDE, Pitit Dessalines, Ansanm Nou Fò, the Historic Agreement of August 14, RENAPA, and the Ayisyen pou Ayiti party.

The Presidential Transitional Council stated that it welcomed the quality of the discussions and highlighted the relevance of the proposals presented by the various delegations.

The dialogue process is scheduled to continue on Monday, January 19, 2026, with additional meetings involving COPPOS-Haiti and its allies, KOREPAD, and representatives associated with the Montana Accord and the December 21 Agreement.

The CPT indicated that these consultations form part of a broader effort to promote inclusive political engagement during the country’s transition and to lay the groundwork for governance arrangements beyond the current mandate.
