Civil defence officials report children among the dead as strikes hit northern Gaza, Gaza City, and Khan Younis despite an October ceasefire.

Israeli airstrikes killed at least 13 people across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, including children, according to Gaza civil defence officials and medical sources, underscoring renewed violence despite an existing ceasefire.
The strikes targeted locations in northern Gaza and areas east of Gaza City. Local medics and Gazan authorities reported multiple fatalities and injuries. The Israeli military said the strikes followed a failed rocket launch from the Gaza City area that fell short, prompting retaliatory action.
The latest escalation comes amid a ceasefire that took effect on October 10. Since the truce began, at least 425 Palestinians have been killed, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, highlighting the continued instability on the ground.
In southern Gaza, an Israeli strike hit a family tent in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, killing at least three people and wounding three others, local rescue teams said. Additional airstrikes were reported in the Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City and in areas near Hamad Hospital, placing further strain on emergency responders and medical facilities.
Diplomatic efforts to stabilize Gaza remain stalled. A temporary governing framework proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump—intended to oversee Hamas disarmament, Israeli withdrawal, the deployment of an international security force, and reconstruction—has made limited progress, according to officials familiar with the discussions. Israeli authorities have said no further steps will be taken until the remains of the final Israeli hostage are returned.
The developments highlight the fragility of the ceasefire and the ongoing humanitarian toll as negotiations continue without a durable resolution.
