A man was arrested Tuesday after disrupting a town hall meeting in Minneapolis where U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar was delivering remarks, according to local authorities.

Police said the incident occurred when the man suddenly charged the podium during the event and appeared to squirt a liquid in Rep. Omar’s direction. A security guard immediately intervened, tackling the suspect to the ground following a brief struggle. Rep. Omar was not injured.

The suspect was identified by Minneapolis police as 55-year-old Anthony Kazmierczak. He was taken into custody at the scene and later booked into the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of third-degree assault.

Officials have not disclosed the nature of the liquid involved or whether additional charges may be filed. Attendees seated behind the podium witnessed the incident, with several appearing visibly shaken as security restrained the suspect.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing. No further details were released as of Tuesday.
