A petition calling for the sanctioning of Pierre Espérance, Executive Director of the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH), is gaining attention online, raising renewed debate around accountability and transparency within Haiti’s civil society and institutional landscape.

The petition, hosted on the global advocacy platform Change.org, was launched by a group of citizens who describe themselves as concerned members of civil society. It urges Haitian authorities as well as international bodies to impose sanctions against Espérance, citing allegations of corruption and alleged manipulation of institutional processes, including matters related to logistics and the Haitian National Police (PNH).

According to the petition’s text, the signatories argue that the accusations warrant formal review by competent national and international institutions. The petition frames its demands as part of a broader call for integrity, accountability, and the strengthening of public trust in organizations that play influential roles in governance and human rights advocacy.

At the time the petition was captured and circulated on social media, it had recorded more than 150 verified signatures. Supporters are encouraging others to review the petition and decide independently whether to support its demands.

No court ruling, formal charge, or official sanction against Pierre Espérance has been announced by Haitian judicial authorities or international institutions in relation to the allegations outlined in the petition. As of publication, there has been no publicly available response from Espérance or the RNDDH addressing the specific claims raised by the petition’s authors.

Media ethics require that allegations presented in petitions or public campaigns be clearly distinguished from established facts. Haitian Prime News reports on the existence of the petition and its claims as a matter of public interest, while noting that allegations remain unproven unless confirmed through official investigations or judicial processes.

The situation underscores ongoing tensions in Haiti regarding governance, institutional credibility, and the role of civil society organizations during a period of prolonged political and security instability.
