The Haitian National Police (PNH) announced Wednesday the arrest of Joseph Cederner, commonly known as “Djo,” in the Northern Department of Haiti in connection with the illegal importation of firearms and ammunition.
According to an official communiqué released by the Police Communication Directorate (DIKOP), the suspect was identified as the owner of a significant cache of weapons and bullets that had been discovered during an operation conducted by the Bureau for the Fight Against Drug Trafficking (BLTS). Authorities reported that the arms and ammunition had entered the country through municipal customs channels before being detected by law enforcement.
Police officials stated that the arrest is part of broader national efforts to dismantle weapons trafficking networks that continue to fuel insecurity across multiple regions of the country. Specialized units remain actively engaged in intelligence-led operations aimed at intercepting illegal arms shipments and identifying individuals involved in their distribution.
The PNH reiterated its commitment to strengthening border surveillance, improving customs oversight, and enhancing coordination between specialized enforcement units to curb the flow of illicit weapons into Haiti.
Joseph Cederner remains in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether additional suspects are being sought in connection with the case.
