Trinidad and Tobago Denies Any Role in U.S. Military Operation Against Venezuela

The government of Trinidad and Tobago has firmly denied any participation in or support for a United States military operation allegedly conducted against Venezuela, dismissing claims circulating in regional media and on social platforms.

In an official statement issued Thursday, authorities in Port of Spain said the country did not authorize, facilitate, or otherwise assist any military action targeting Venezuela. The government emphasized that Trinidad and Tobago’s territory, airspace, and maritime zones were not used in connection with any such operation.

Officials reiterated the country’s long-standing foreign policy principles, which prioritize respect for sovereignty, non-intervention, and adherence to international law. Trinidad and Tobago also underscored its commitment to peaceful coexistence in the Caribbean and northern South America, particularly given its close geographic proximity to Venezuela.

The denial comes amid renewed geopolitical tensions between the United States and Venezuela, raising concerns across the region about the risk of escalation and its potential consequences for energy security, migration, and regional trade. As speculation grew that nearby Caribbean states may have been involved, Trinidad and Tobago moved quickly to distance itself from any military activity.

Government representatives further highlighted their alignment with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which has consistently called for dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation in addressing disputes involving Venezuela.
