A video shared widely on social media early Saturday appears to show federal agents shooting an individual during a struggle in Minneapolis, sparking public outrage, protests, and strong reactions from state and local officials.

The footage shows multiple agents attempting to restrain a person near the intersection of West 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue. As the struggle continues, several gunshots can be heard. The individual is then seen lying motionless on the ground while bystanders react in shock, with voices questioning whether the person had been killed.

The City of Minneapolis confirmed it is aware of reports of a shooting involving federal law enforcement at the location and said authorities are working to verify additional details. City officials urged residents to remain calm and to avoid the immediate area as the situation unfolds.

Shortly after the incident, protesters gathered near the scene. Video from a live social media stream shows demonstrators chanting slogans including “F**k ICE,” “Quit your job,” and “Shame,” as masked federal agents remained nearby behind police tape. The protest reflected heightened tensions surrounding federal immigration enforcement actions in the city.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told Newsweek that the individual shot by federal agents was armed with a firearm and two magazines, which agents recovered at the scene. DHS also shared an image of the weapon, according to the report.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz issued a forceful response, calling the shooting “sickening” and urging the federal government to end the current operation in the state. In a statement posted on X, Walz said he had spoken with the White House and demanded that federal agents be pulled out of Minnesota, citing repeated violent encounters involving federal law enforcement.

The incident comes only weeks after another fatal shooting in Minneapolis involving an ICE agent, further intensifying public concern and political pressure surrounding federal law enforcement activity in the state.

As of publication, authorities have not released additional details about the individual’s condition or whether any charges will be filed. Minneapolis Police, DHS, and city officials have been contacted for further comment.
